Job Title: General Liability Defense Attorney

Location: Mt. Pleasant / Charleston, SC (On-Site)

Salary: $120,000 - $140,000 (DOE)

Key Responsibilities

• Case Ownership: Direct the full litigation life cycle for general liability, premises liability, construction defect, and complex commercial casualty files.
• Courtroom Advocacy: Conduct oral arguments, draft dispositive motions, and represent clients in state and federal courts across South Carolina.
• Depositions & Evidence: Take and defend strategic depositions of plaintiffs, lay witnesses, field experts, and treating physicians.
• Claims Carrier Reporting: Author concise litigation evaluation reports, liability assessments, and settlement updates for insurance claims examiners.
• Alternative Dispute Resolution: Lead settlement negotiations, mediations, pre-trial hearings, and jury trial preparations.

Qualifications & Skills

• Experience: 3+ years of civil litigation experience (insurance defense or personal injury defense preferred).
• Licensure: Active and unblemished license to practice law from the South Carolina State Bar.
• Courtroom Skills: Demonstrated background taking depositions, arguing motions, and managing court appearances.
• Technical Savvy: Proficiency in legal research databases, CM/ECF federal e-filing, state court portals, and legal billing platforms.
