Insurance Defense Attorney (Dual-Hire Expansion)

The Opportunity

Due to an expanding regional caseload, we are seeking two (2) Insurance Defense Attorneys to join our Cary office immediately. This is a rare opportunity to join a thriving practice during a period of intentional growth. You will take immediate ownership of a diverse litigation docket, managing the full lifecycle of defense matters—from initial carrier reporting and complex discovery to depositions and trial.


Key Responsibilities

  • Defense Advocacy: Develop and execute defense strategies for insurance carriers and their insureds in general liability and casualty matters.
  • Depositions & Hearings: Take and defend depositions of parties and experts; argue substantive motions in state and federal court.
  • Carrier Reporting: Maintain consistent, professional communication and strategic reporting to insurance claims examiners.
  • Trial Leadership: Lead discovery, handle mediations, and serve as lead or co-counsel in jury trials throughout the region.


Qualifications

  • Experience: 3+ years in civil litigation (Insurance Defense or General Liability focus).
  • Bar Admission: Active North Carolina Bar license in good standing.
  • Skills: Superior brief writing, oral advocacy, and a deep understanding of North Carolina court rules.
  • Mindset: A proactive litigator who enjoys the courtroom and works best in a collaborative, onsite setting.

Salary Range: $120,000 - $140,000 (DOE)
