Construction Litigation Paralegal

Raleigh, North Carolina

Our client is a prestigious, mid-sized Raleigh firm with a 70-year legacy of handling high-stakes litigation. Their Construction Law practice is highly regarded, representing general contractors, subcontractors, and developers in complex disputes across North Carolina. The firm offers a professional and stable environment, recently moving into a modern, brand-new office space in West Raleigh that fosters a fresh and collaborative workspace.

The Opportunity

We are searching for an experienced Construction Litigation Paralegal to join a specialized trial team. This role is perfect for a professional who enjoys the technical nature of construction disputes—from defect claims to lien law. The firm views its paralegals as essential members of the trial team, relying on them for substantive case management and trial logistics. The ideal candidate will be someone who is accustomed to the pace of a private firm and takes pride in providing high-level, billable support.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specialized Litigation Support: Manage a heavy docket of construction-related matters, including defect litigation, contract disputes, and bond/lien claims.
  • NC Court Expertise: Navigate North Carolina state and federal court systems, including expert-level e-filing and a deep understanding of local North Carolina Rules of Civil Procedure.
  • Discovery & Document Management: Organize high volumes of technical documents, project files, and blueprints; manage the exchange of evidence and document production.
  • Trial & Hearing Logistics: Prepare exhibit lists, trial binders, and witness files; coordinate directly with expert witnesses, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
  • Time Capture: Maintain accurate records of daily activities and billable time to ensure all client-related efforts are documented as a routine part of the day.

Key Qualifications

  • Experience: 3–7+ years of litigation paralegal experience, with a strong preference for those who have worked on Construction or Commercial litigation matters.
  • Court Knowledge: Extensive, recent experience working specifically within the North Carolina court system.
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or a Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program is preferred.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong skills in Microsoft Office (specifically Excel for managing data) and standard litigation support platforms.

Highlights & Benefits

  • Full Benefits Package: Including comprehensive health insurance, dental, vision, and a competitive retirement plan.
  • Premier Office Environment: Work in a brand-new, top-tier office location in West Raleigh with modern amenities.
  • Long-Term Stability: Support a firm with "Legal Elite" recognized attorneys and a 70-year history of success in Wake County.

Salary Range: Up to $90,000 (Commensurate with experience)
